Solid effort in late-notice win
HeavyweightUFC
November 16, 2024
Tybura defeated Jhonata Diniz via TKO (doctor stoppage) at 5:00 of Round 2 at UFC 309 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
Non competitive in a first-round main event submission defeat to Serghei Spivac in August, Tybura got a late-notice fight here against Diniz and responded with an excellent effort. He got popped with a few big blows early on, but wisely recognized the danger and quickly reverted to his grappling game. Tybura proceeded to dominate on the mat, headlined by a few vicious elbows in Round 2. Referee Herb Dean could have easily stepped in, but he allowed Diniz to finish the frame. On wobbly legs and sporting a pair of massive cuts, the doctors would not let him come out for Round 3. Now 39 years old, Tybura is just 4-3 in his past seven fights, but those defeats came against high-end competition in Spivac, Tom Aspinall and Alexander Volkov.

Set to fight Diniz
HeavyweightUFC
November 2, 2024
Tybura will fight Jhonata Diniz at UFC 309 on Nov. 16, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Tybura will be looking to bounce back after losing to Serghei Spivac in his most recent fight, but doing so may be easier said than done against Diniz, who boasts a perfect 8-0 record as a professional (2-0 in UFC).
Quickly taps in Vegas main event
HeavyweightUFC
August 10, 2024
Tybura lost to Serghei Spivac via submission (armbar) at 1:44 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
What a disaster. Tybura was taken down moments after the opening bell rang, but somehow managed to end up in top position. Everything seemed to be going just fine, at which point Spivac rotated and grabbed Tybura's arm. The latter tapped out immediately. It's a result that simply cannot happen at this level given the dominant position that Tybura held. Set to turn 39 years of age this coming November, Marcin is just 3-3 in his past six bouts dating back to October 2021 and is lightyears from title contention, even in a thin heavyweight division.
Headliner against Spivac

Tybura will face Sergey Spivac as the main event at UFC Vegas 95 on Aug. 10, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Tybura will step on the octagon for the first time since March, when he defeated Tai Tuivasa in another Vegas event. He'll aim to start another winning run, as prior to the win against Tuivasa he was defeated with ease by Tom Aspinall.
Taps out Tai Tuivasa in main event
HeavyweightUFC
March 16, 2024
Tybura defeated Tai Tuivasa via technical submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:08 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
There were seemingly only two ways this fight could play out. Either Tybura was going to get knocked out immediately, or he was going to overwhelm Tuivasa with his grappling. To Tybura's credit, he survived some hairy moments early on. One big elbow from Tai was particularly harmful, but Marcin survived. He eventually forced Tuivasa along the fence, battled to take him down, and eventually worked for the rear-naked choke. It's a very nice win for Tybura in a fight which could have gone sideways in a hurry. He'll also pick up a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts here. Marcin is now 38 years of age and has no real history of competing with the best heavyweights in the division, but his 3-1 record in his past four fights is impressive. He'll continue to hang around the fringes of the top-ten for the foreseeable future.
Fight pushed back a month
HeavyweightUFC
January 14, 2024
Tybura's scheduled heavyweight matchup against Tai Tuivasa has been moved to the main event of UFC Vegas 87 on March 16, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
This was a fight originally scheduled for UFC 298 in February, so Tybura loses the opportunity to fight in front of a capacity arena crowd on a pay-per-view card. The main-event slot is not a bad consolation, however, as he'll get a chance to earn a top-10 spot in the rankings against a dangerous power puncher in Tuivasa. The announcement did not specify whether it would be a five-round fight, as is typical in headline bouts, but the extra rounds would presumably benefit Tybura. He was originally slated to enter this matchup as approximately a (+105) betting underdog.
